Just over a week ago, I once again had the privilege to be part of something big in this country. Valerie Adams, an extremely talented shot-putter (the best), was to receive her Olympic gold medal in The Cloud. The reason she didn't get it in London in the first place, was that she was won the silver medal, before it was revealed that the original gold medalist had taken illegal substancesprior to her winning performance at the Olympics. Absolutely outrageous. But even though Valerie was disappointed not be able to celebrate her gold in front of the eighty thousand spectators in London, I think she was pretty thrilled with the celebrations Auckland and New Zealand managed to organize for her.
