If you know me, you probably also know that I'm a sucker for good ice cream. When I was asked if I wanted to come with New Zealand's most popular ice cream factory—Tip Top—for four days of fun... I was pretty darn excited. The conference was joined by Tip Top employees across the world. Day 1 was planned to be a big, warm welcome for all the jet-lagged travellers. Haka was performed to present them to the NZ culture, and the food was inspired by—you guessed it—ice cream.
KiwiYo
The first time I went to the beach in New Zealand, I decided to go to Mission Bay after hearing some good words from friends (which turned out to be even truer than expected, but more about that another time). Well on the beach, it didn't take long before me and my boyfriend started craving for something cold and refreshing. That's when we found KiwiYo.
The store had just opened and we weren't familiar with the concept at all, but one of the friendly staff members helped explaining it to us. They serve frozen yogurt, or actually, you serve *yourself* frozen yogurt. New flavors every week, mix and match however you want; and then choose from HEAPS of toppings for a yogurt extraordinaire.
For a girl who always thinks she gets too little toppings and too much of the rest, it was a bliss. It's not a coincidence that my boyfriend nicknames me as "the fruit lady"; that visit gave him even more reason to do so. Fresh strawberries, kiwi fruit, grapes, apricots... And then some "nerds" on top, to perfect my first KiwiYo experience. Heaven.
If there's one thing I'll miss about this city, it's this store. Serious.
