A couple of days ago, I got the amazing opportunity to be part of a fundraising event at NZ's biggest venue--Vector Arena. The event was a fundraiser for the Foundation of the Blind, with the theme of the night being--that's right--to "awaken your senses". The event company brought together six of New Zealand's very top celeb chefs to create the menu for the evening. Head Chef Michael Meredith at Meredith's (Restaurant of the Year 2011) was there. Hayden McMillan (TriBeca Restaurant and Bar), Ben Bayly (The Grove), Nick Honeyman (Cru at Sale St), Jonny Schwass (Restaurant Schwass in Christchurch, Cuisine Restaurant Personality of the Year 2011), Mike van de Elzen (The Food Truck)... All of them were there, to serve the very best cuisine for the guests.
And I? I got to capture them all during the process.
But the sense of taste and smell weren't the only sensations for the night. They had wonderful after-dinner music by Sal Valentine and the Babyshakes. In one corner they had six red armchairs put up, where you could sit and cuddle with golden puppies. It was an event that had it all.
And let's not forget the venue itself... Boy oh boy, what a venue. You'll see what I'm talking about in a minute. It was such a treat to be a photographer at the two days leading to the event, getting to get to capture every little detail and preparation for the big night.
I really must have the best job in the world.
